Once word got out that one of the largest Planned Parenthoods was going to be built in Aurora, the local parishes got together and started a 40-Day vigil at the clinic. This vigil is taking place 24 hours a day, 7 days a week right outside the new facility (240 N. Oakhurst Drive, Aurora IL).

I had the pleasure of attending the vigil this evening. My friend and I parked in the grocery store parking lot which is right next to Planned Parenthood. If you decide to attend the vigil yourself (and you should!!!), do NOT park in the Planned Parenthood parking lot. The first thing that caught my eye were the crosses along the side of the road, symbolizing the graves of those who have died from abortion. When we got to the sidewalk where people were protesting, we were immediately greeted by one of the women there. She showed us where they had food, drinks, signs, and umbrellas. She explained that they had umbrellas because during the night, the sprinklers turned on. After some time had passed, a man walked up to us to congratulate us. Before he knew it, we had persuaded him to join the protest. A woman in the group told us how a cyclist passed them the last time she was there and told her that he had never seen a building go up as fast as this undercover Planned Parenthood did. It was inspiring to see the determination of the people there. Everyone's invited to attend the vigil so if you live in the suburbs, YOU SHOULD GO!!!

While I was at the vigil, my dad was at a pro-life community meeting that was taking place. He said that the place was surrounded by police cars and pro-abortionists holding signs. He estimated that there were 450 people present at the meeting including several big names from the area. The meeting had multiple speakers including Jim Sedlak and Joe Scheidler. I won't go into details, but the main take home message was to never give up. We don't want an abortion clinic in Aurora and there's no reason that it has to be there.

There's going to be a pro-life rally at the Planned Parenthood site on Aug. 25 from 9-11am. For more information on how you can get involved, please visit FamiliesAgainstPlannedParenthood.org
