Bishop Jenky has remained publicly silent on this issue, despite sitting on the board of trustees and board of fellows at Notre Dame.
Some believe Bishop Jenky is doing a lot “behind the scenes.” Even if he is, this does not justify his public silence on the issue. Thousands of Catholics will use this event as an excuse to support Obama and his anti-life views.
Hypothetical conversation:
Jane: “You’re Catholic and the Catholic Church is Pro-Life, so how can you support Obama, he wants to fund abortions.”
Bill: “The Catholic Church actually supports President Obama, Notre Dame even gave him an honorary law degree.”
Bishop Jenky should publicly condemn awarding President Obama an honorary degree of law from Notre Dame.
I completely agree with you John. So many young lay people have sacrificed everything to protect the unborn. It seems that the very least Bishop Jenky could do is publicly stand up to his alma mater. He really needs our prayers right now to lead and act with courage.
