Parental Notice Takes Effect!

The 1995 Parental Notice Act took effect yesterday.  This is a huge victory for Illinois parents and teens.

The court injunction against the law for the past 14 years had made Illinois the midwest center for abortions on minors. The surrounding states have similar parental involvement laws which made it profitable for Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry in Illinois to fight this law vigorously.

In fact, I have personally talked with young couples coming to the Champaign Planned Parenthood for abortions from Indiana. One couple in particular told me that, “We just didn’t want our parents to know.”  The boyfriend had driven this young mother across state lines without her parents knowing at all.  This young girl could have died from this procedure hours away from home while her parents were clueless.

Below is a clip from a local news station interviewing Peter Breen, of the Thomas More Society (TMS). TMS was instrumental in orchestrating this victory. (Peter is also an SFLI board member)
