Abortion and the Economy

by GuestPoster
January 12th, 2011

So an argument that Planned Parenthood and several other pro-choicers like to use is that abortion is somehow good for the economy.  They base this on the idea that if there are fewer people then mothers as well as the state will have fewer people to take care of. First of all this is an insufficient argument to begin with.  If abortion truly is an act of homicide then its effect on the economy is morally irrelevant.  We simply should not kill fellow human beings, especially our own children, for economic benefits.

Second, our economy would do just fine without legal abortion.  I don’t recall us being a third world country before 1973.  Steven W. Mosher and Colin Mason of the Population Research Institute, a pro-life think tank, have successfully refuted this argument.  They argue that while yes, kids cost a lot, said kids eventually grow up, become independent, get a career, and fulfill the second requirement of life, pay taxes.  The economy needs people to function; it needs to at least have a population that replaces itself.  Abortion on demand contradicts this principle.

Planned Parenthood has economic interest in expanding abortion.  This is evident by their wide ratio of abortions to adoptions.  In 2007 they performed 62 abortions for every 1 adoption referral.  While they may profit from abortion, our generation, as well as the natural right to live, doesn’t.

National Abortion Giant Loses 10 Corporates Sponsors

by GuestPoster
January 6th, 2011

Life Decisions International, a pro-life conscientious consumer group, dropped major corporations such as Kohls, Mrs. Fields, Red Lion Hotels, Franchise Services, Cisco Systems and Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare from their boycott list.  These corporations were previously on there for their financial dealings with Planned Parenthood.

LDI reports that they cut a total of ten corporations from their boycott list.  In other words, Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider, lost 10 corporate sponsors.  This is a great cause of new year’s celebration for unborn rights.  It is in no small part, thanks to the pro-life advocates calling corporate officials,  making it clear, that business with the abortion giant means no business with Life advocates.

Sadly some other companies such as AOL and Darden Restaurants have joined the list.  With this in mind, should Pro-Lifers start practicing conscientious consuming more as a tactic?  Do you already boycott certain brands?
