Students for Life of Illinois is honored to announce our first speaker for this year’s summit. David Bereit is the National Director of 40 Days for Life, a pro-life campaign that has mobilized more than 215,000 people throughout the United States and several other countries around the world. 40 Days for Life focuses on prayer, fasting, peaceful vigils, and grassroots outreach to bring an end to abortion and spread the culture of life. David began his pro-life work in 1998 when Planned Parenthood announced plans to build an abortion clinic in his Texas town. He helped rally 60 churches and thousands of volunteers in an effort to oppose Planned Parenthood. Due to this overwhelming response, abortions in that area dropped by over 40%.
In 2005, David moved to the D.C. area to expand his pro-life work, which has been featured in the media hundreds of times across the nation. He has debated several top abortion advocates and abortion industry insiders.
David is married to his best friend Margaret, and they reside in Fredericksburg, Virginia with their two young children, Claire (age 11) and Patrick (age 6).

The 2009 Annual Pro-Life Leadership Summit will be held on October 24 at Loyola University in Chicago. Last year’s summit attracted students from 14 campuses. Attendees were treated to excellent speakers who equipped, energized, and inspired a renewed commitment to spreading the Culture of Life to college campuses and beyond. We are headquartered in Texas and have just opened our Chicago office. We produce and broadcast TV ads and roadside billboards that change attitudes away from abortion toward a culture of life, and which inform women & men of all ages of help that is available to them if they are in an unplanned or crisis pregnancy. Our ads have been proven to reduce abortion rates in cities in which they are used. We’ve already begun our radio ad campaign, and soon you will begin seeing billboards & TV ads in the Chicago area from Majella. So, we would love to discuss with you how we can get the word out to your pro life student members about the life-saving work we are doing in the metro Chicago area, and attend your regional Summit.
